PORTRAIT SERIES AS A MANIFESTO OF REAL RAW BEAUTY
WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BEAUTIFUL?
Such a simple question can provoque a difficult moment of thinking. Why so?
Women have always been influenced by media, by the newspapers, TV, and now internet. The era of intagram, facebook and all the other social media creates a need of being always perfect, as the photoshopped models in the ads, movie stars or the popular bloggers.
Be more skinny, be more perfect. Have flawless skin and thigh gap. Be what you cannot be.
It's been a while since I've stopped buying magazines. I usually read articles that my friends or the people on the internet I respect suggest. I try to read »alternative« blogs with »alternative« view, which means it has feminist point of view and focus on the content and originality.
We miss more visibility of this kind of articles. The point of the media should be to empower and motivate and educate, and this is why I started this project.
I wanted to do a series of portraits of women I know and I admire, asking them the previously mentioned question, What makes you feel beautiful? The scope was to show the real beauty of real women, and to show that looks is not everything, but it's the energy, your vision and your soul that makes you shine. And this is what really counts.
