Alessandra is my neighbour, and she's such a great person! Always so kind, helpful, with a warm smile that is viral, it affects you any time when talking with her. She's an English teacher in high school and passionate for literature. In fact, she borrowed me a great book by Alice Munro I'm reading now, this reflects her impeccable taste. It's really nice to have Alessandra for a neigbour, she is like a sunshine even on the bad days.
When do you feel beautiful , complete?
I feel beautiful when I am with the people I love because by the way they look at me I realize they see and love me for what I am. I do not have to be perfect. I love teaching English and literature. That's my job and my passion in life. When I work with my students I know that's the place I belong to.
What do you think about the influence of the media/internet on self confidence and self image?
The influence of the media and the internet on people's self-confidence is awful. This massive campaign on how "beautiful and perfect" everybody must be is just a bunch of stereotypes. They impose their own idea of beauty on you while beauty lies in the freedom of being yourself.
How this influences/influenced your life?
I do not care about it. I simply choose my way and feel well about it.
What is your philosophy?
I try to be true to my real self. I like simplicity, I look for people who care for feelings.
How do you cope with the need of being "perfect" in these days?
Perfection doesn't mean appearance to me and perfection cannot be achieved anyway.
What do you recommend to other women?
Do not look for the perfection the others want to impose on you. You are already so beautiful!
